How does fractionation impact the amount of water required?

Since CPT’s process employs dry milling, it takes very little. Some tempering can be required for low-moisture corn, and a spritz or two to thaw frozen kernels in winter are the extent of CPT water requirement.

What’s the impact on wastewater?

Fractionation helps lower the impact on an ethanol plant’s wastewater. Renew Energy, for example, has indicated it has been able to reduce wastewater by nearly 50 percent. Renew’s team has sought efficiencies in recapturing and reusing process water. Renew reports its reclaimed water system is supplying approximately 95 percent of its process water needs.
